There’s no better feeling than coming home to a clean house. But keeping it that way can be another story. Between our hectic jobs, overscheduled social life, trying for ‘me’ time and some resemblance of an exercise routine, housework can often be last on the list of priorities.
Choosing the best vacuum cleaner that suits your needs is one of the first and easiest steps you can take to ensure you get that clean house feeling more often. With the help of Mike Eagle, Floorcare Category Manager we’ve created a guide to help you find the right one for your home.
When to choose a cordless vs robotic vacuum
If you’re after versatility and a deep clean, a cordless vacuum is the way to go. The major benefit of being cord-free is that it won’t just clean your home but can also be used to clean other spaces such as the car and your mattress. However, if you’re after a vacuum that will do all the work for you without you having to be there, a set-and-forget robotic vacuum may be better suited.

Consider your home layout
When your living space is large, it’s extra important to choose a vacuum that’s easy to maneuver and has ergonomic features. An ergonomic handle combined with a maneuverable nozzle, for example, eases the strain on your wrist.
Some vacuum cleaners have an extra-long cord, so you don’t have to stop and change sockets as often – handy if you have a large home. If the size of your home demands a lot of vacuuming, choose a vacuum cleaner with good dust pick-up – that makes vacuuming more efficient and easier.
In addition, when possessing a house with a large floor area, you should consider equipping a robotic vacuum cleaner. It can reduce your cleaning time and you then only need to care for other areas that it is not able to reach like desktops, shelves, windowsills, and more.
For smaller pokey places, the versatile Electrolux UltimateHome 900 comes with a high-performing PowerPro Multi-surface nozzle that thoroughly cleans any type of floor.

Consider the surfaces you’ll be vacuuming
Getting the best cleaning performance on different types of floors is all down to the nozzle. If you have carpeted areas, a motorised nozzle with a rotating brush is best, as it agitates the carpet pile and helps loosen dust and dirt.
Hard floor nozzles with soft brushes are ideal for wooden and tiled floors, it is efficient yet easy on the floor to prevent scuff marks.
The combination of “regular” nozzles has settings for both carpet and hard floors.
Choose a vacuum cleaner with a nozzle that suits the types of floors in your home. If needed, combine it with another nozzle.

Electrolux PureQ9 and the new Electrolux Well Q7 with the highly efficient, sealed 5-step filtration system remove up to 99.9% of dust particles* to help keep your home hygienic and healthy.
